Everyone knows we have so many redundant jobs..multiple people working on same stuff across geographic. Some places are overloaded and few projects overfilled without work.
Broadcom acquisition may not happen with 90% certainty as it creates monopoly. With or without it, still everyone must be braced for uncertainty & volatile environment.

I have seen three or four people with the same title in different BUs. Every other person runs "strategy" and "alliances" and "cloud" and "GTM." Buzzword bingo at VMware.
I am noticing a lot of VPs and SVPs making big business trips. JP posted a photo to LinkedIn of his trip to Australia. Saw another (useless) VP just went to Europe.
These are the last days of disco at VMware. Everyone is spending travel budget before the Hock hammer drops.
Notice they are going after hardware and not software competition because BC had been fined on antitrust issues repeatedly.
It's not even remotely a monopoly. AWS and IBM Redhat are not even remotely threatened.
Polish that linked in profile and start reaching out to your network to get a feel for what is out there in your area of expertise. If you get bad vibes, figure out if it is a tight time in the job market or if your skill set is outdated. We are being acquired because we are a legacy tech company - chances are that if you are on the R&D side you will need to refresh your skill set.
