I started at MPC about 2 years ago at a legacy MPC site. I’ve been asked if I’d like to relocate to a legacy Andeavor site. I’ve heard that pay increases and progression opportunities are better in legacy Andeavor groups. I don’t understand how this could be since the merger was years ago, but keep hearing the same things. Should I make the move and is pay really that different? Thanks!

I started with Tesoro in San Antonio and I now work in Findlay. I can tell you that they are different environments. People in San Antonio seem happier. There was a dip in morale after Marathon but it seemed to rebound once people knew where they were going to be. I worked closely with G&P folks in NM & West TX and they were great to work with. The previous responses are correct, being mobile will help you move up more quickly.
To each their own. I’d rather make $175k in Alaska or North Dakota than putting up with Findlay or their sites (and stuck at $120k)
Good for you... I'd rather make 150k than 175k in fu----g North Dakota or Alaska.
" If youre only goal is promotions?

Are people delusional within our company?
We work for a corporation...this isnt a charity. Its exactly this type of mentality that lets Mgmt stiff us on bonuses.
We are here to make money. We are not saving the world.
I want every $ possible and if that means moving and promotions so be it.
Marathon, like other big companies, want you to prove you are their bi--h by willingly moving all over the place. Remember, not everyone will get a big time job title. If its an area you would like to move to do it. You can always drag up after your relocation deal is up. If not, tell them to lump it.
Is the Andeavor legacy site in CA? Pay is better there on paper because COL is sooooo much higher. The only way to get promoted at MPC is to move every couple of years. Moving on completely might be the wiser choice. Weigh your options but remember they don’t like to be told no.
If your only goal is promotions and money move. Moving will always help you make more faster. But there is more to life.
