Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Announcement

Jeff G retiring next February. All I can say, it’s about time! Let someone new and fresh take over. This makes me more optimistic for the future of company.

Wonder how the store visits went yesterday in South Jersey with JG. Not hearing good things from the stores I visit concerning business. Or the Supply Chain sites keep hearing how things have slowed down. Blame part of it on the economy and inflation but how will Macys respond and stay viable.

The timing of his departure is suspect. I believe Macys is going to close A LOT of stores and massive layoffs probably after Holiday 2023 and he does not want to be holding the bag and blamed for that one. Reminds me of when Tractor Hal left, a few months after he did the whole company got even worse,

Tony Spring should get rid of Last Act and send them to Backstage instead!

There is a succession plan in place but JG probably wants one more huge bonus as a parting gift. Good luck TS when you take over hopefully you can help make stores more presentable like Bloomingdale’s and clean up the messes left behind.

Retiring? Is that what they are calling it? Would not be surprised if the shareholders are calling it something else. The only question is: why wait until February? Frankly, I'm good with the usual 2-week notice, maybe 4-weeks for an executive. Is Jeff looking to pad his exit parachute or is the reason he's giving 11-months notice due to the fact that it may take that long to find someone who wants to take over his colossal mess?

That would be the best thing to ever happen to Macy’s. He has destroyed this once great American Institution. It will take decades to rebuild the damage his policies have caused.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out Jeffrey!!!

I hope they'll get someone who insists that sales racks be organized. I've never seen them in any kind of order, all sizes all missed together and it's impossible to shop unless you have all day. Such a simple thing, fix it! Also, everything not being rayon or some other cr-p fabric would be nice too.
