It is my great desire to leave this industry, but unfortunately, I do not have enough skills to get the job I want.
How did you "free yourself" from retail?
I would like to hear the stories of those who managed to leave the industry.

you got something provided by Macy's right under your nose. Guild. get on it, they have a bunch of programs with tuition covered 100%, it's gonna help you land something else outside of retail.
I left retail at a much younger age and took a risk working in another industry with little experience. It’s scary at first but you will be happy in the long run. I went to school when my wife was pregnant with our first then got a job after my daughter was born. Dealt with the misery of my old job before securing my first Tech job and was worth it. You will get tired of retail and decide one day to move on believe me.
Took a course as a radiology tech and am now making $40 an hour with great benefits, work 8 to 5 Monday through Friday and one weekend a month. There are numerous opportunities out there. Invest some time and effort and take control of your future. Good luck.
Yeah I would love to get out of retail also but it’s so hard when you only have experience in retail. I really don’t want to do another Christmas here, always a nightmare.
Technical School then found a job in IT. Never worked in retail again after that and hopefully never go back. Take classes when you can and or learn a different skill that you can use and is valuable to a potential employer
