Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

Why drag this out for 18 months?

It's disheartening to think that for 18 months, we will all have to think about layoffs 24/7 and never be certain whether we're safe tomorrow or not. The company should have done this in a way that everything was wrapped up within a month. I'm sure the majority of us would have appreciated that more than the current approach.

Your employment is at will. Look out for yourself and your future. If you don’t like what’s happening leave!

I think it's 18 months because of the aquisitions. They bought some big companies in 2021. and they are obliged not to fire their employees for 2 years. I believe 2024. would be the year many will be forced to leave.

I’m reasonably certain 18 months is integral to the plan. They have plenty of time to restructure/consolidate but also who in their right mind wants to have their head on the chopping block for 18 months? Many will seek new employment and their replacements will be paid less, bringing up profits and executive compensation.

Even just the announcement of the layoffs shot the stock up 4%.

It feels like there is a big disconnect between executive level who deal with the board/shareholders and upper management. Noone at this point knows how this will go. Some teams are just waiting for mid year reviews to decide. There isn't a single transition plan or constraint for who's going to leave. And in regular accenture fashion they will decide while they roll :D Accenture sadly has left behind human first approach...

If you don't like the ride, get off the train.
