I was just wondering if anyone had been through a JCP closing , were there any signs or hints ahead of time that it may be closing ?

Crystal Mall JCPenney in Waterford, CT fits this description. No Beauty Department plus the store is outdated. Also, its in an extremely dead mall. So I think that on will close soon.
The only stores they are going to be closing for the foreseeable future are stores that are super small in rural areas (no beauty department, old fixtures, outdated flooring/lighting, etc.). Or if another landlord has purchased the store, it's likely closing. If someone is paying millions to buy the land your store is on, you can bet they aren't planning to continue leasing it to JCPenney for $3 a square foot. Otherwise, your store is probably safe.
