Thread regarding VMware layoffs

If not Broadcom, then who?

Assuming the deal doesn’t go through, which company would be a better fit for us to merge with? I would guess MD already has a plan B with another buyer.

How about Elon...for $100B...and then the same clown show that ensued at Twitter?

My guess is it would be a private equity firm like Thoma Bravo, but at a much lower valuation.

Any secondary option would require a huge discount from the current offer. Even before all the trouble in market and the layoffs, the valuation was way higher than the market and no one else even wanted a shot during the go shop period.

If You dont like broadcom, wait till you see what comes if the broadcom acquisition doesnt go through. You can cry your DEI tears into a pot of Tanzu stew and then wind up with a price in the 70s vs the broad come deal of almost 2x that.

Too bad I can only +1.. +100

I'm trying to think if I could invent a more Rube Goldberg-esqe product after having looked at the confluence page which is 'tanzu', nope, they win the mousetrap award!

Hock will sniff this out eventually.

Aldi. Seriously though. Give it up. Don’t assume anything. Even if the deal doesn’t go through, this place is fu---d. Attrition is mad, current management useless, a CEO that doesn’t even know how to wear a pair of glasses.

Then the technology. I have left VMware actually and now work for a K8s centric job. No one even cares about VMware. At least not customers that aren’t already in the eco system. I even work with one of the larger banks in the US and they are currently ripping out the whole vSphere deployment. They started with Tanzu but now go native kubernetes.

They told me VMware tried to sell them vRA on top of Tanzu - which made me smirk.

Anyway. I digress. The one thing I can only recommend here, leave if you don’t like uncertainty. Otherwise just shut up and do your job.
