Age of laid-off employees

I’ve noticed a pattern in the last few layoffs: the age always skews higher by a significant margin. How come nobody is doing anything about this? Age discrimination is illegal and it shouldn’t be hard to prove. Is nobody interested in pursuing this after being laid off?

I noticed when I was let go in 2018, majority was over 50 but they sprinkled in some 20 and 30 year olds too.
