Thread regarding Meta / Facebook layoffs

Use it while you can

Having "Meta" listed on your resume is still pretty impressive to employers, but it's hard to say for sure how long that will remain the case. You should take advantage of it while you still can. Highlight this experience to potential employers while it's still a hot topic in the industry. Profit.

"Describe your day and how you anticipate working at our company." (softball question)

Yeah ... with several decades of engineering experiences, if I were asked that kind of question I'd be tempted to respond with something like

"Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour. Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. "

and then follow up with

"What would you say you do here? "

Describe your day and how you anticipate working at our company

Would not want to work at a company/team that asks this type of question. It does not look like an engineering focused company. It looks like a question a recruiter/psychology major would ask in the initial phone screen.

"Describe your day and how you anticipate working at our company." (softball question)

You assume the candidate can only work exactly like he worked at his current company?

We had to washouts from Meta show up in our inbox.

After 3 rounds of interviews ... the req is still open.

"Describe your day and how you anticipate working at our company." (softball question)

Lots of stuttering and stammering in their replies.

Its pretty obvious that those getting let go are either redundant or didn't provide enough impact to be considered worth while.

Meta, Twitter, Amazon, Google ...etc. its VERY obvious the super tech companies overhired.

Why was he invited in the first place? Knowing his graduation date should have been known at the time of screening his resume.

Beats me. This has happened in almost every company I've been in. It has happened to me. That's how managers keep themselves busy.

We interviewed two good Meta engineers. One was top notch, and the management only rejected him because he was not even 2 years out of college.

I ding Meta when hiring. Too much arrogance and laziness.

I was actually denied a position because I had Meta on my resume. Meta is looked at as being toxic and employees are weaved into the culture. Potential employers don't want that toxicity brought in.

Yup! Something about entitlement and cultural fit? ;-)

Riley Rojas destroyed the Meta brand with a single TikTok video.
