Is it possible to receive your severance in installments?

Not a difference in taxes, but a difference when Micron takes the expense. Micron will want the cost of work force reductions in FQ2.

I'm curious how it would make a difference from a tax perspective? The maximum of 25 weeks of severance would still all fall in this year if you are laid off before July.

I doubt it. Companies will want get the expenses off the books as much as possible, in this case, by the end of the fiscal quarter. Uncle Sam will want his money, don't mess with Uncle Sam!
