IT is bloated. Also, with stock price down so much, without a doubt there will be cuts in IT.

Wake up and smell the coffee! This is Progressive's pattern and sometimes it makes sense. The company has gotten 'very fat' during the covid years. Way Way Way too many levels of management and supervision. It is definitely the 'right time' to slim down and eliminate waste. This is a fact.

Stock is up, but gainshare is low... This is indeed hard to read

But I don't think layoffs are coming

It is unlikely we will have any layoffs. The commercial arm of the company has grown to the number one insurer in the country. We’re coming for you Geico. Ave FLO!

With combined ratio at 99 and Gainshare at 37, I’m actually pretty nervous about layoffs. Of course this could be my PTSD after having survived Allstate’s abominable treatment, before I jumped ship.
With the workloads in CL claims that I am seeing, it is hard to believe layoffs could be in the works.
But that’s what we said at Allstate!

Progressive is hiring in mass. Stock price and revenue is up. Claims has hundreds of openings. It's very like an Allstate troll spreading chaos...

Too much money probably spent on lame commercials and paying Flo, have to balance somehow.

OP, can you say why? Is this due to a decrease in profits? Are there any red flags of a layoff that you can point to that people might not have noticed?

I doubt it. We are always so understaffed we can’t afford to lose people.

Plus our gainshare is up. Must be an allstate troll coming to spout false rumors

This is bs. I'm in CRM as a sup and were offering OT daily, we are so busy we are understaffed

Doesn't seem likely. Turnover is too high and revenue is up. Progressive's "layoffs" would most likely be new hires not staying past 6-12 months.

We also have many positions open, unable to staff. ETS is a flat head count for 2023, but started with a deficit and we are still hiring. No hints of a layoff in our future.

Yes, we have been hiring non stop. Revenue is up. So I am curious, which departments?

Org has been hiring non-stop with more on the way in Q2. Curious what department these rumors are even occurring in. Seems we are hiring all over the place with tons of active postings.
