Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Commonality - everyone posting can't be disgruntled or competitor

We've seen postings from marketing, sales, engineering, support, and so on. From the topics discussed, they cover a full range of technical, managerial, social, and so on spanning from frontline workers, low level management, current and former, outsiders, stakeholders...

The majority of the posting try to inform, give insights based on data, facts, experience, opinion, and emotion. They overwhelmingly paint the direction that this company is heading toward, financially, culturally, technically, and as a going concern.

And it is all not good but it's reality. Until something fundamentally change at this place such that everyone see actual improvements, it is what it is. And no, one person cannot do it all. This requires failure of the firm to wake everyone up and we're heading there. Make your decisions to stay or go wisely.

"— Not ALL directors and up are bad
— There are definitely some newer people in director and up positions who are working very hard to turn this shop around.
— If you care about this company, please look for a way that you can be part of the story of how it comes back to glory. Not every company ends up like Kodak or Blockbuster. "

Sounds like one of the newer director or above putting a positive spin, protect the ranks, and encouraging the troops. Good for you... you've been sold a doomed mission or too stupid to see what's going on and drank the cool aid.

Keep doing fake work to amuse yourselves but as many people already said, it's beyond repair but knock yourself out. Just don't take everyone down with you.

"We need all hands on deck to keep us from sinking. I am fighting to make my contribution in my area of expertise. It’s quite frustrating, but I am making progress. What contribution can you make to be a part of an amazing comeback story?"

you are but one and we know the problem is rotten to the core
unless you have influence over ELT or command a whole org like HA or the like, you are doing fake work
if you are doing something, what is it? because no one in or out see any improvements and if anything the sh!t is getting ready to hit the fan and concerned people are sending up flares for who ever that heed the signs

the language of this lead one to believe mgmt or someone thinking they can just say something and it will happen

results my friend ... show us number of customers, increase in revenue, and voluntary unsuppressed feedback in public forum of better environment

until then, continue to do fake work if that makes you happy but others will make decisions best for them

Feel free to keep doing fake work to support your master ELT and sink with the ship but don't deny others of their opinions, even if it's a click for thumbs up or down and show your real intent.

Get on one of the lifeboats now (find a growing company to work for). Stop bailing the water, it is too late to save this sinking ship. Staying will negatively impact your mental health. Nobody enjoys being on a losing team, even if they are paid well.

My perspective:

  1. Yes, this company is very broken.
  2. Trust in product quality is minimal and it seems all our internal processes and systems are broken
  3. There are some serious problems with senior leadership’s ability to pull together and bring the company back to former glory
  4. These posts are mostly from smart people who aren’t just disgruntled, but actually recognize the problems that need to be solved.
  5. With that said… The thumbs up/down responses to certain posts indicate that many people on this forum have become unwilling to see any positive. To turn this company around, we need people to make things happen and not just sit back and thumbs up the negative comments and thumbs down the positive one. And we definitely don’t need people discarding a post that offered some hope as automatically being written by an ELT member or HR.

— Not ALL directors and up are bad
— There are definitely some newer people in director and up positions who are working very hard to turn this shop around.
— If you care about this company, please look for a way that you can be part of the story of how it comes back to glory. Not every company ends up like Kodak or Blockbuster.
— We are a business on the brink of disaster… we need all of our skills to turn this around IN SPITE OF all those people who are making bad decisions (you know… the people most of the posts in this forum are about).
— If you truly think there is absolutely no hope and that you cannot do anything to contribute to saving this company, then please move on quickly - if you don’t, no matter how many bad decisions are made by others, you will also be part of the story on why this company fails if you are taking up a position and not trying making a contribution to turn this company around.

Summary: I believe in the accuracy of most of the problems reported in this very active forum. I do not, however, believe it’s too late to turn it around. We need all hands on deck to keep us from sinking. I am fighting to make my contribution in my area of expertise. It’s quite frustrating, but I am making progress. What contribution can you make to be a part of an amazing comeback story?

For sure. Many engineers have no trust or confidence in the product, strategy, management or the company. Many of the a$$ki$$ers have adopted management politics and fake work M.O.

It's like I am in a never ending episode of The Walking Dead. Someone should do a reality TV show with this clueless ELT who talks more about social re-ingineering than our business fundamentals. Imaging the interactions bewtwen KCC, HA, JW, NC, and SM. I would never miss an episode. Now showing on Netflix - Teradata, The Walking Dead...

Stay and do fake work or work somewhere else and do something customers will use.
