Being laid off in my middle age is flipping my life and my family's life upside down. I'm too old to start fresh and too young to call it quits. All the dreams I had for myself and my family are probably not gonna happen anymore. It's like I let them down and now we're running out of options.

You got that right. Micron has ruined the lives of many. If Sanjay got hit by a car in front of me, I would keep walking.
I got laid off at Seagate when I was 61 years old. Of course it had nothing to do with my age because it is common knowledge that these high tech companies are all about inclusion and do not discriminate. Seriously, I was devastated and it took about 4 months to find a contract job. But I worked real hard, showed them my "old timer" work ethics and skills. No BS, I now have a better job, full time employment, love what I do, make more money than I ever did and work with great people. It's all about keeping a positive attitude and don't ever give up. It is not easy, hardest thing to do, put you can do it. I am almost 67 now, collecting S.S. and working full time in high tech.
This is what you fools get for trusting a company with no ethics. You are on a ship of fools friends...
I was 56 when I got my ageism based PIP, start job search the same night and got my first offer in 3 weeks. More offers came along and finally I found my perfect fit in less than 2 months, while pretending "I'm working hard to improve my performance". My wife of the same age also got PIP exactly at same time (which is, of course, pure coincidence and has nothing to do with our age). She switched jobs within company while actively looking outside and finally was able to find much better place with higher salary.
Don't give up on yourself, your family and your dreams. You can do so much better, there are numerous options. There are many companies, large and small, that value experience and do not have revolving door and stack ranking management games. I see people around me 10-20 years older.
Are you over 40? If so what did the OWBPA show for your VP? Every person cut in the US was over 40 for my department. Cleary age discrimination.
Please don't be too pessimistic. Your future is bright. At least you gained valuable experience in the big company Micron. This will make you get more new opportunities than others. I graduated five years, the miserable thing is that I have never got a valuable job to gain valuable professional experience. I would rather be hired by Micron and get laid off now. Once I think I need to look for new jobs, I start to be headaches, because I know the employers don't like my resume. Compared with me, you are good enough to have a new journey. Don't think you are old, I am old too, I suffered more than you. You have a good foundation, just keep looking for jobs, and you will get a better-paid offer soon. Boise city is not the best place to settle down. I know one already got a better-paid offer, he was laid off in the first round. I told him that he will get a better job, then he got one soon. You will too, god bless you.
All the best and good luck!
Be patient, the pain and suffering of what's happening now is just a blip in time. The future is bright and your dreams are still there for you to achieve.
I second the previous comment.
Many of us have gone through layoffs. While it is shock when it happens, there is always a better opportunity right around the corner.
The best thing you can do now is to make job searching as your full time job.
Don't take the first job you get just to bring in the cash flow. Take it only when the hiring manager has similar values as you.
For the sake of your mental health and your family, stay positive.
Good luck.
You are not alone. I went through it two months before Covid shut everything down. You will find something better, it just takes some time. Consider smaller companies, too. Stay positive. Keep confident in yourself and your value.
