Northwell picks Epic in EHR switch

New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health is moving from Allscripts to Epic Systems.

Northwell said it will rollout the new Epic EHR system in phases, with the first go-live to occur in 2025, according to a March 20 press release Northwell shared with Becker's.

With Epic, Northwell aims to eliminate workflow redundancies, provide one integrated EHR system throughout the health system and reduce administrative burden for clinical and revenue staff.

The move, according to the health system, is intended to make patient and staff experience more seamless.

We were lucky to get out last July, a bunch of left together and went to competitor and instantly got a 30% lift., better benefits, and better culture.

I have to say that my 12 years there was the absolute worst job in IT I’ve had in 25 years.

Ever 1/4 stressing over layoffs, 8 new managers, 1 manager lasted 4 days, the clients always pi---d, each upgrade created new issues, pager duty, Development sucked absolute worst old cr---y buggy code, the low pay, forced OT, sc-mbag Directors doing sh1t-getting bonuses that you should have gotten, having to carry lazy @ss people that made more than you….I could go on.

Harris was a bunch of complete mo--ns, they squandered any chances of keeping the talent because of the incredibly stupid attitude they had when they took over….all I can say is Karma is a b1tch and now you’re married to her …I’m enjoying seeing the ship tank now..long overdue….at this point if I was still there I’d be looking and doing nothing for Harris…sc-mbags.

To answer to this "My question to anyone who is still working at Allshits…
“Why are you still here and not leaving?” "

Allshits have always maintained that they are doing very well financially even with all these going on. I can bet that in next townhall or meeting, they will be saying that they are in a better position than ever and have so much cash flow.

People stay because MP still hasn't tightened the screws enough. Why leave a good buck and no responsibility? I don't understand why this still confuses people.

The new EHR is the start of an exciting digital transformation journey, which will be rolled out in phases starting in 2025
Northwell Health today announced an agreement with healthcare software leader Epic to implement the health system’s next-generation electronic health record (EHR) as part of its ongoing digital transformation to ensure a more seamless patient experience and team member experience.

Epic, the industry-leading EHR provider based in Wisconsin, provides an integrated solution that will result in one patient record across every Northwell venue of care and drive enhanced care coordination. New York State’s largest health system, with 21 hospitals and about 900 outpatient facilities, expects to roll out the new EHR in phases, with the first go-live occurring in 2025.

“Implementing Epic at Northwell will require a multi-year effort re-visioning the consumer experience, clinical workflow and standards followed by configuration and ultimately activation,” said Joseph Moscola, PA, executive vice president of Enterprise Services at Northwell. “We are at the start of an exciting digital transformation journey, which includes utilizing Google Cloud to discover data insights and refining our customer relationship management to create personalized experiences.”

Northwell is making an investment in an EHR solution that will transform how it delivers care and manages revenue cycle across the enterprise. Using Epic, Northwell will focus on several key areas, including:

Providing one patient record across ambulatory, emergency, inpatient and post-acute care to improve clinical continuity and care coordination;
Using a more intuitive platform to reduce the administrative and cognitive burden for clinical and revenue cycle staff;
Eliminating workflow redundancies and the need for workarounds.
“We are excited for the collaboration and possibilities with Epic,” said Sophy Lu, senior vice president and chief information officer at Northwell. “This is a significant foundational decision to simplify our digital ecosystem in order to enhance the connectedness of Northwell’s integrated system delivery and bring joyful experiences at every touchpoint.”

Providers use Epic software to care for more than 300 million patients worldwide.

That will be roughly $190M per year in revenue that will eventually go away for Altera.
That has to be close to 25% of the total revenue of the pile of garbage they bought.
