Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Thank you to ...

Thank you to all the jingoistic management who hires not-even-nearly competent people in cheaper geographies. Thanks for not doing one thing to improve any of the crumbling and broken things around the company in your entire tenure. You have made a less diverse space filled with arrogant people who have little experience, yet are good at creating world class Rube Goldberg systems & code.

Thank you to all the management who had the power, but never the will, to require acquisitions to integrate into the existing infrastructure. You are the reason with have 42 choices for any way to do anything.

Thank you to all the management who come from a big Redmond, WA company who talk about how great THAT company is, and have been undermining internal infrastructure with their own goals since they day they got hired.

Thank you to all the workers who have gotten hired and want to transition everything to their favorite tools because that's what they want. No justification. No improvement in outcome. Not cheaper. Not simpler. Never you mind that it will not be a better outcome.

Thank you to all the developers who create something that doesn't work, move on and then say "I don't work on that anymore" when people ask you questions about your crumbling dung pile.

Thank you to all the management who believes Agile Standups while Scrumming is the best way to write software (errr, micromanage). You've set development back decades with your dogmatic "it must be completed in 2 weeks" approach to solving unknown problems. Now get back to writing colorful reports in Jira.

Thank you to all the management who does nothing.

Thank you to the club of PEs who promote toxic people.

And, thanks Pat. You led and created this culture. Good job.

All of you who have participated in this have made the only constant be the inconsistency and dysfunction.

You've destroyed vmware.

I hope you are happy with yourselves.

Thank you to managment that has acquired too many disparate companies and created Tanzoo.

Thank you for letting science projects around Kubernetes continue to suck the oxygen and sanity out of the room. The blindness to continue in a business that we have no expertise in is astounding!

Thank you for reviving an old cartoon character as the embodiment of our CEO. Magoo, you’ve done it again!

Pshaw. With the amount of time it takes to do anything, nothing can be finished in two weeks.

There is anecdotal evidence that the company hires a preponderance of a particular type of person to the near exclusion of every other group.

Yes, they seem to hire the village id--t from every village on earth.

Oh, wait, he isn't born in the US either!

Discriminatory hiring is illegal.

Poor little snowflake. You don't have to be born in the US to be a citizen and even if they were born and live abroad, so what? The US is not the center of the Universe. Go and work for Elon Musk, then. Oh, wait, he isn't born in the US either!

This!

Customers will love our product not because of the problem it solves but by the clever gymnastics we performed to make something “Kubernetes native”. You wouldn’t want to pi-s off the natives would you? That seems to be the mission of Tanzoo.

In reality, companies are being used to enrich the executives, the BOD, and
the people pulling the strings. If anyone else makes money, that's happenstance.

Gid outta hea!

Are you implying that a $50M payout for change-in-control is not justified for actual quality work performed?

They are there to make money for their shareholders.

How quaint. The shareholders believe this. In reality, companies are being used to enrich the executives, the BOD, and the people pulling the strings. If anyone else makes money, that's happenstance.

This rant is hilarious. Stop loving corporations, they won't love you back. I say that because of your long tirade like the corporation personally screwed you. They are there to make money for their shareholders. That's it. You area number and when the equation doesn't work then you are subtracted. It sucks. But it is what it is. Move on.
