Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Partnering with other businesses

Teradatas issue is that it doesnt understand how to partner with other businesses big or small. It tries to sell direct to EVERYBODY which is the most expensive way possible to get new customers. Unwillingness to partner with resellers is highlighted by the amount of Gov customers (who only by from approved resellers) it doesnt have.

@vcx+1lCjGWD0 said it well. Unfortunalely, that's costing this company a lot.

Besides Partners, in the infinite wisdom of the new mgmt wanting to put their own touch on things, they disbanded the Product Advisory Council (PAC). The PAC had customers and engineers communicating. They collaborated to get the pulse of the product and customer acceptance to help guide decision making. Many engineers that work on the product were involved and were part of the process to help guide it. Now the bonehead id**ts mgmt keep all the decisions and discussion to themselves and know nothing new hires. No wonder this place is out of touch with the people that do the work, customers, and so on.

The mgmt here are so arrogant, insecure, and clueless that they keep knowledge people at a distance, don't listen to suggestions proactively, and come running when they're in a bind or advantageous to them and friends. They foster an environment of intimidation, politics, revenge, and lack of trust. Just ask around who has been there awhile and decide for yourself. This board just provide hints and usually where there's smoke, there's fire.

Teradata CANNOT and WILL NOT partner in a meaningful way with any third party - completely the opposite of the partner-friendly early days of the company. All the "partner poobahs" are worthless and no one in the "partner group" has a clue about how to work with partners in a MUTUALLY beneficial way. This comes from a former partner. We wanted to help Teradata be successful by building a channel for the SMB market place and they (TDC) treated us like we were aliens from another planet. COMPLETE DISRESPECT - that sure made us want to partner with them ... NOT!!!

Many of the people that were "impacted" by the most recent round of layoffs were specifically trying to bring a partner centric mindset to Teradata.

Unfortunately AY didnt want the competition + wanted to show that Vantage was A1 Super amazing by converting all existing onprem. By getting rid of anyone pushing for partnerships his product would look successful. (When it really was not)

Problem is ELT + the Board were too d-mb to see that AY was just playing a shell game with the existing customer base + running off the people that could have actually fixed things.

But what's it matter keep cashing in stock + making $$$ for doing nothing.
