Thread regarding Meta / Facebook layoffs

How many recruiters did Meta have?

Not a Meta employee so not coming here to pile on (I was laid off in the fall so I know the feeling) but JFC how many recruiters did you guys have? It seems from my LinkedIn it's just a neverending sea of recruiters/talent acquisition people being laid off across the board.

@OP: Came here to say the same thing. It seems all Meta posts about layoff on my LinkedIn are from Meta recruiters.

These are mostly do nothing of value DEI type roles to check a box. Look at all the ones on Tik Tok doing day in the life of my layoff videos. It was time for a good house cleaning.

Recruiters just find candidates for a req. They are the ones least responsible for this mess. Some hiring managers, especially the ones from a certain country, like seeing many reports.

I've been seeing that as well.

I think, in part, it's because tech recruiters have low Erdos numbers on LinkedIn and the other part is, of course, the FAANG companies have stopped over-hiring.

I'd be interested in their thoughts. Do they see themselves as being complicit in the over-hiring arms race? Did they know (or suspect) it was excessive? Do they recognize / accept their own responsibility for the disruption in tens of thousands of lives that resulted?

Finally, and most importantly, will they change their behavior going forward?
