Thread regarding First American Corp. layoffs

Laid Me Off Without A Care in the World

If you join this company, please proceed with caution. They brought me in at a high rate of pay last year but I was recently laid off and treated like actual human garbage. My manager hung up on me during the layoff call. Hardly any severance even though I am the family earner. I would proceed with caution if thinking of joining this company.

FA is a cash cow. Claims rate is 3% or less. They take home buyers' and sellers' money for basically a worthless product. If it was worth anything it wouldn't exist. I'd say to anyone still there - you can definitely find a better company to work for. I wouldn't depend on FA for anything.

And they taunt everyone with their "best employer" "FA family" what a creep show.

More layoffs are on the way as the entire real estate and mortgage industry is slowing down, as current mortgage rates are as appealing as a rotten egg salad left out on a sunny day.

Cr-ppy place to work filled with cultish personalities. Get out while you can before the next round of layoffs.

I was laid off last year. Have since found a wonderful job, so it worked out. But wanted to share what happened at FA. Total shitshow the 10 months I was there. Put in hours working on pointless garbage and taking cr-p from other areas of the business. Suck it up mentality. The day I was laid off I had no warning, no inkling it was going to happen. My manager had just come back from PTO and my manager pinged me and asked if I had time to “catchup” so I jumped on a call with him, he said “just a minute” and dialed in the HR rep who informed me that I was being let go. That was it. Cold af, no empathy, nothing. I scrambled to get stuff to my team but access was cut. The only line open to them was through Slack, so I let them know and chatted with them for a couple of minutes about what had happened. It sucked.

I’ve been laid off a few times but they were the worst. Horrible place to work. What’s really ridiculous is that they turned around 3 months later and tried to hire me back. WTF? I said “NO” They tried twice again after that!

The stories people are sharing are no exaggeration. FA is a horrible place to work. Don’t waste your time there and mostly, if you get laid off by them, keep in mind that it is NOT your fault. They are incompetent and it’s their fault.

FA produced so many bobbleheads and probably paid a small fortune for them, still they are very scarce. Management got inspiration from them. Can you imagine what ideas got voted down?

Ge-z, what are people doing?waiting around for 3 years hoping everyday that they don't get laid off? What are people working on? Does anyone know what management did when things were good besides playing games? You would think that people would that had any gumption at all would move on.

Got laid off - they give you no warning . Just a call comes in with manager- and your own manager - and an HR rep . They tell you today is your last day . Communication with First American is cut off immediately via Teams and outlook, workday . Ruthless company - Numbers is all that matters

Oh my God. No joke. Is it a script that they read? All those things, I heard them from the managers... and here I'm thinking it was off the cuff stuff being said to me... but if you guys are being told THE EXACT SAME THINGS ....Jesus man... it's all FA corporate propaganda.

It is a protected industry, only a small handful of underwriter companies that have been around forever. They don't have to be good because they are protected. Leadership was always extremely mediocre and lazy. The industry standard is to squeeze Escrow Officers for every penny and adding unneeded stress on them, not an attractive career. Management philosophy from the 1800's that cannot solve simple issues. People do your own thing or at least take their money and do something else. You gave them your loyalty by not leaving for more money and listening to how much they care. Also think about those horrible managers that were afraid to speak up on your behalf or at least do the right things.

FA bobblehead says "companies that want to be around for 130 years and worth billions of dollars need to have a culture of layoffs."
