Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

When will it be enough?

Right now, we're expected to handle the workload of not just one, but three people! It's pushing us to our limits, and a lot of people are barely hanging on. With all the layoffs that have started happening, folks are starting to get worried about the future and many are actively looking for new job opportunities. The instability of the situation is hitting everyone hard.

We all are in charge of our careers, if you don't like the scenery, change the scenery. No one is holding people hostage and forcing them to work at Micron.

I have 7am meetings and 9:30pm meetings stacked together on the same day twice weekly for the foreseeable future. Go Micron!

You mean there is life after Micron? So much doom and gloom on here, maybe, just maybe, there is greener grass for some us.

I just accepted a remote position with one of Micron's competitors. More money for less work! Get out while you can.

trust the process? Micron probably will fail in 5 years if we continue like this.
this year was really too much, also for people was working in this company since early 2000s

"Over the course of Microns 40 plus years there has been at least 10-12 layoffs going the way to the 1980s. Micron will come back stronger and so will you!" <<<<<

Yes, the question is will you make it to the 13th or 14th or 21st layoff to be part of the "stronger" Micron. "Micron will come back stronger".... This is potentially a true statement. The problem is that it gets stronger on the backs of a disposable workforce. Remember stronger is not better.

Ask yourself, this question: "How many people do I know that truly retired (left the workforce) from Micron?" In my 20+ years with the company, I struggle to name more than a handful. To Micron you are nothing more than a disposable and renewable resource.

The fact that they are not offering voluntary severance speaks volumes. They want to pick the people that leave the payroll. They want to get rid of the older higher paid workers, the workers with high healthcare costs, the ones that question management direction.
