Face the Facts: With the adoption of PSR, there are zero good places to work on the UP (or any other class 1 railroad for that matter). All of the postings bragging on which service unit is the best are silly. We all are considered second class citizens and our jobs are in constant danger of being cut. No place on the railroad is a good place to be because of the changes made in the past few years and it’s only going to get worse.

OP is correct, all location suck. PSR has ruined railroading. It’s nothing but a short term scheme to enrich wealthy stockholders. Once they reap their profits, someone will have to come in and rebuild the mess. The UP and the rest of the class 1’s remind me of the old Southern Pacific in its last years. Deferring maintenance, not investing in infrastructure, locomotives dirty and paint fading, just an overall run down operation. The CEO there did the same as now, he squeezed as much profit as possible and sold out. I believe the same will eventually happen here.
Ive always loved my job, does It get stressfull at times yes, do I get called in odd hours YES. I enjoy a lot of my coworkers. WE the GRUNTs can't control the generals. It's the Upper Brass failing us! Not other grunts in other crafts. Upper Brass needs to realize to win a battle you need boots on the ground. PSR has definitely made them forget that! The ugly truth about PSR is finally reaching the publics eye. We are in the first steps to $hit canning that horrible idea just so a few at the top can get rich. Just look at NS! ONE month they hit Rock Bottom. UP and other class ones don't want that kind of attention.
