In reality, and this might be hard to swallow for some people, but store management has the ability to cut or add staffing as well as cut or allow hours based on customer traffic, buying trends and other metrics stores use to manage headcount. And while it might seem unfavorable to some, store management would most likely cut hours on the associates that are less productive or less troublesome. Just think about it, if you were a manager somewhere and you had to reduce someone’s hours, you’d pick the one(s) with the least impact and keep the ones that help out or work the best for you. That’s only common sense. So, the moral of this story is this: if you’re a good associate your hours are probably fine. If you call in a lot, late to work, disappear during work hours, work too slow or have an uncontrollable mouth or bad attitude, you might be the one cut. You can say anything you like about the way it works, but it is what it is. Many stores are understaffed so if hours need to be cut (for whatever reason), they are going to pick the worst workers. If the situation were reversed abs you were making those decisions, you would do the same.
