Typical - management spend the company money in a drink fuelled party in Las Vegas whilst us ICs keep the ship afloat. This company make me sick!!

fly first class? your kidding its private jet
we are all ''one vmware'' after all
My favorite part was managers bragging to their ICs about going. How they were so excited to be there and it would help with their messaging. Not once reading the room of the people they were saying that too.
It is another example of misaligned values at VMware. ICs are told to get intimate with customers and grow sales. It is challenging to achieve this when we have been remote for 3 years now. Not even able to pay a $150 train ticket and a nights hotel to see customers to build relationships while Management are spending thousands.
Leaderships lack of awareness on how this impacts moral and separates us from them - not a team effort. Especially during BC acquisition. Good move.
Isn't this standard at literally every company?
Though I agree that it is bad optics right now and they should have aimed to avoid it.
I'm not sure what was the more stupid. The fact they held this event knowing what the optics looked like to the ICs/others not invited or the fact it is all over linked-in with people (many of who are not in sales) holding Champagne glasses partying.
I know many 'slightly smarter' people declined the invite to attend and sent lower level managers in thier place, knowing what the perception of the event would be.
Bad judgment.
This "leadership" SKO is just the last dance on the Titanic with "leaders" throwing integrity to the wind and burning as much discretionary budget as they can while they have it. Nothing to do with strategy, goals, performance or celebrating those that really espouse the Epic2 values that did exist at a time at VMware. Similar with the McLaren sponsorship so all these execs can fly around and "host customers" while drinking champagne in pit alley. It's a sham and disgrace but soon the music will stop and much of this BS will go away (as will many of these imposters). Can't happen fast enough.
One last hurrah for those on retainers!
I thought there is travel/expense ban in place unless it's signed off in advance by a VP? Yet the very people making the rules are breaking them......cost per head for the drinking session in Vegas has to be $10k per head when you take into account travel, hotels, expenses, cost of venue hire etc........they've successfully driven another wedge between the overheads and revenue earners of the company.
Chances are they'll be back in the office next week telling us to cut costs and do more.....
Great to see team members live, but truly a "raw raw" show for select groups only and very little/no education/knowledge received. Really disappointing, too, the methodology behind Club. It should be reserved nearly exclusively for those in sales with a few support teams included (ex: communications, finance, etc)--those that did exemplary work v just their job.
They probably flew over all first class too.
How have Take 1s could have been funded with just the cost of the alcohol at that party?
What was the point of SKO? It's a bit fuzzy for me in terms of the objective....does this happen every year?
It's concerning to think they stack ranked us while under the influence.
Sounds like Hang Over. Ho----s and blow too?
I am afraid you are in a take it or leave it situation.
Isn’t it always like that?
