Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Life after layoffs

Can anyone post their experiences about life after layoffs at NetApp, how long did it take for one to get an offer? How long did it take for one to really feel ready for interviews and etc?

Well before I was let go I was lab support aiming for the Sysadmin position. I wasn't let go due to the layoffs, but it was a week before the layoffs started happening. I was let go for disconnecting a switch my manager cleared and tasked me to remove it. After I was let go for his mistake, I found a job in Snow Hill and was hired on as a Sysadmin. Unironically, I configure switches similar to the switches Netapp contains in the labs. Life has been much better now and all I can say is whoever is the lead for networking is a B.A.N. as well as my ex-manager.

Mine was 20xx of course annual May RIF. Take the advice from the first post about notifying NetApp partners and associates. The day I was notify is the same day I sent my departing notice to all my accounts. Within less than a day, I've received interview calls and less then 5 days received number of offers. Must act fast because you are only as valuable and fresh within 1-2 months of your RIF notice. It was so nice I had "Garden Leave" for 2 months, then on top of 3+ months of severance. Took the entire summer off to reset and refresh with Unemployment pay and started new job with overlapping severance pay.

Mine was March 2014. I acted on good advice to reach out to the numerous NetApp partners and that made my unemployment period about 2-3 months. I had been with NetApp 10 years so my severance was rather big.

You mean you don't already have another job lined up? Yaknow there's nothing to stop you from "double dipping"?

All i can say it is very relaxing and blissful to be not seeing stupid and disingenuous emails from netapp management.
