Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Congrats on your promotion!

We have some new and exciting things that we think you'd be perfect for! No, you won't be letting go of any current responsibilities. You will keep those and you'll be assuming responsibility for everything your "affected" team members were doing. No, we didn't adjust project expectations before "taking actions." No, there's no promotion for doing the work of three people now. No, there's no room for raises this year, either. Sorry, it's just not in the budget (again, heehee!). We didnt think this far ahead. Why? Because f-ck you, that's why.

It's a combination of inexperienced employees not willing to try something new and exceptional workers dragging the boat anchors.

Can’t get blood from a stone; if you’re already doing 45-50 (real hours, not lunch and commute), then you’re probably not going to have more to give ; conversely, if you were a 30 -35 hour person, (including lunch and commute) then yeh you’ll probably be doing more because 40 hrs still naturally fits into a work week, and if you’re any good, you know you’ve been slacking so you’ll do it.

You can work on your laptop in the evenings while you watch TV to pick up the slack. If you still don’t have enough time, sleep is overrated.

Quiet promotion to deal with the quiet quitting.

Love this thread, is sooooo true. The people left behind get to do more work, more stress but no slack from management.

Everything MUST get done as before even though there's less people. No wonder people leave you fool.

Were you listening in to my 1:1 yesterday? I got asked to pick up some work that I have no idea how to do. I said I would have to make adjustments to some other things, how should I prioritize? I was told everything is high priority. I asked if we could change the frequency of updates and reporting, slide some things that don't action quickly from weekly to bi-weekly. I was told management NEEDS this data weekly. I asked if I could take a class to learn the tools they were using, NOPE no money for that. I was told to use Youtube or Linkedin learning, it has videos for everything. I asked when the heck am I going to have time to watch videos? I was told on my free time, I'm bettering myself so why should it be on company time.

Actually had a manager suggest on a team call that people not picking up the slack by working extra was "quiet quitting"

I don't think that means what management thinks it means.
