100% A cult. Noticed this the other day. 5 men in suits all making dad jokes to each other as they explained how they would run a country. Weird. All we need is flags in offices and random pictures of leaders and we’ve nailed it. Oh wait
All medum and above sized businesses have the cult element. Some of that is necessary for basic employee marketing, some of it is just the nature of human self validation/delusion.
I’ve worked at many companies. Dell lays it on thick with the DEI, work/life balance (which is partially correct - but team/department dependent), and the “best place to work EVER” stuff, but I’ve worked at places that were far more cult like.
When all you hear when Michael Dell is introduced in any video presentations to the employees it is always said that Michael started the company in his UT dorm room.
Enough already!
Worked for Microsoft back in the day , now that was a cult but not Dell .
Young hip tech companies have cultish cliques, especially racial/ethnic cliques. That's not so say that groups in Dell don't have a "Us vs Them" mentality. But it certainly isn't cultish in my opinon.
EMC was a cult, so probably.
Funny

Most major corporations where people stay for 12+ years are for sure cults.
The vast majority of people never notice or care - that they are in a cult like enviornment, that scapegoats and attacks others, until they are the ones out in the cold.
Hope they wake up.
