Thread regarding Salesforce.com Inc. layoffs

Top Performers impacted

I know of a few people in sales who were impacted by the layoff who were over 100%. I made over 400K in each of the last 2 years, so me thinks they decided to cut areas where they expect growth to slow and they could save a few bucks. I’ll never know. Those remaining should expect much higher quotas.

would you recommend someone with a few years of experience join salesforce? I am impressed by their training and onboarding to help sharpen my sales skills

any commment on work life balance there and typical comp packages for someone with 5-10 years of experience?

agreed. I think they cut sales in areas where they expected a lack of growth and not due to performance. they may hire back some people into new or existing areas where they expect more growth.

I would agree. Judging by the pedigree of people affected it seems the strategy is to cut many experienced (and therefore highly compensated) resources. Spreadsheet-driven decisions made by the bean counters with little consultation.

Seems like they are looking for increased profitability in the short-term at the expense of long term growth and health of the company. I wonder how much influence these "activist" investors played in all of this? Corporate raiding to boost stock price, sell, and then leave the company in a worse position than when they found it.
