Thread regarding Goodyear layoffs

There'll be more layoffs

This was just the start. We need much better results to be safe, and I don't see that happening any time soon. Sadly, the only way this management knows how to attempt to improve things is through operational cuts. As long as they continue to do that, none of us are safe.

I have wondered why executives making bad decisions or not being able to plan ahead correctly - well that’s what they get paid for - pass the buck with impunity to those who had nothing to do with the problem in the first place. And it's the common workers who get fired

Although GT is not exactly "Silicon Valley", the same principle applies to them and poor business execution by their so-called "leaders": Stop Laying Off Workers and Start Firing CEOs: https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/movies/silicon-valley-needs-stop-laying-100300332.html

They started to lay off Cooper employees end of last year. That was a sign of things to come. The "leadership" people who went around whooping to media and on LinkedIn after Cooper merger have a lot to answer for. Now loyal, hardworking, talented people, even in R&D, are paying the price for the "business" decisions made by these "leaders". The leaders are at best marketing people lining their own pockets with stock options and benefits through series of questionable business practices and decisions while hardworking Americans get laid off for no fault of their own. It's time for those leaders to pay for the consequences of their actions - why do they always get away with everything and the minions are forced to pay with their livelihood, safety of their families and homes?! Why don't these leaders lose their jobs ever, especially since it's their fault that the company is in this state?
