Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Can a given business have different salary ranges for a given JG?

Based on responses on this board, it is obvious that the salary range for a given job grade can be different from one business to another.

However, within a given business, is it possible for different sections of workers to also have ai different job grade? For example, within Upstream, is it possible that two people that are both JG2 and both making exactly 100% PIR....can have different base salaries? Maybe some "specialty" jobs are adjusted higher?!

How are the PIR scales for the US Shell Trading organization?

Shell has the least transparent pay policies. Just in the US, there are at least 3 tiers of pay for engineering.

Tier 3 upstream is around 30% more than Tier 1/Standard/Downstream for a given pay scale.

standard JG4 100% PIR - 150k (120-180 range)
Tier 3 JG4 100% PIR - 195K (156-234 range)

And hire date doesn't set you for your career. You can move into a new role and HR will lower your scale (but not your pay) without warning, which means capped without ever getting a raise again.

Your hire date sets your range for your entire career. It will differ by JG and discipline, but hire date is a huge element

As far as I know different skillpools have different 100% PIR at a given job grade. For example, 100% PIR for HR at JG4 might be $100,000 while 100% PIR for petroleum engineering at JG4 might be $200,000. Just making up numbers here, but the principle is correct as far as I know.

Your question is pretty open-ended, so "yes." There is also a dependence on your job family, so finance may have a different median salary than petroleum engineering, though both may work for "upstream."

Sorry, I meant within the same country as well (I know the salaries vary widely by country)

So let me restate:

"In SEPCO (US Upstream) , is it possible for two people that are both JG2 and both making exactly 100% PIR to have different base salaries?"

Short answer is yes, PIR are mostly affected by what country you work in.
