Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I wonder how long this will take

This is not a small number of people to lay off. If it's being done in one on one meetings, then it's going to take some time to get it all done. Meaning, a lot of us might have to wait for weeks to know if we're being laid off or not. I know many won't agree, but I think doing this all at once through email is a better option.

majority are already notified today and their last day is Friday this week! If you are not notified today, likely you are safe!

idk, the layoffs in september of 2020 was much larger than this and from what i remember, it was all wrapped up in a few days

As I keep saying, this isn’t a one time event. Cuts have been going on for months. There just happens to be a larger wave this week. More are coming. Don’t assume at any point that you’re “safe.”

I assume HR is the bottleneck. I estimate one HR rep can process 15 - 20 people per day. Managers probably have 3 people to deliver the news to at most.

Nah. They laid off more in 2020 and it was wrapped up pretty quickly.
