Nothing happening in Tanzu land, TAP and TKO are garbage products, along with the rest of the junk they have remaining (Bitnami, VMware App catalog, etc.). Sales leadership wants to go after the app owners - guess what? They already laid off the AEs last quarter, how are they going to do this for next FY? Watch the resumes fly after the end of March payouts from last FY.

Work in Tanzu (granted I'm entry-level) and it's been nearly impossible to get a promotion even with good performance. Those who have been promoted have pulled some political strings. It truly is a mess over here.

Tanzu has been a terrible place to work, egos the size of which I’ve never seen before at the top combined with complete ineptitude on many teams below. Most of the main actors have left the stage, leaving things in an even stranger state.

The acquisition of Pivotal didn’t help matters as those folks mostly got placed into Tanzu which made the portfolio complicated. There is also a mismatch of cultures. Mashing up 5 cultures due to acquisitions doesn’t work and VMware is guilty of this across the company, not just Tanzu.

The cherry on top is Joshua Burgin, a guy whose hiring was so ineptly handled. That event clearly shows the underlying boys networks at play in big tech and contempt for existing employees by Tanzu leadership. The hollowness of the garbage that flowed out of Tanzu leader’s mouths in addressing this mistake was staggerIng.

The double cherry on top is that now this guy is in a leadership position. This is the exact opposite of what Magoo said when he backpedaled and hired him anyway with the statement that he would not be hired into a leadership position. I guess he never said he wouldn’t be promoted into a leadership position. Tricky guy that Magoo.

What a mess of an org.

Lastly, not enough customers seem interested in it for it to be a viable business given the team sizes and bizarre number of managers who have no reports. How is that even possible? Hock will certainly make a lot of changes here.

Time to bring some adults into the room. I’m not a fan of Hock’s biz practices, but I think in this area, he may make a positive impact by at least holding them responsible to create a product line that is profitable or shut it down.

Why so much hate towards Tanzu products? I think most of the products are awesome.

PS: I'm not a Tanzu guy!

Tanzu is a portfolio of products, the better question is which ones will stay and which ones will go. Seems like this company has trouble selling/marketing the more development specific ones while the infra based Tanzu products seems more in our wheelhouse.

I work in Tanzu and don't know. No one communicates. I use this board to figure out much of what's going on.... Pretty sad.

What is Tanzu? Lots of unrelated products have taken on that name.

It's the future of multi-cloud and super cloud, seems like Hock wants to keep it.
