Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Citrix key market positioning is remote work while their new CEO threatens to fire employees that don't RTO

Good job Vista Equity!!

If I was the competition, I would be all over that. That's like saying HPE doesn't use HPE servers in their Data Center. Why?

I'm much less productive since returning to office. I don't worry about it, though. Evidently, that's what the company owners want, for me to be less productive. Why else would they threaten to fire me if I continue to work in a manner that is more productive (remotely).

"Perhaps TK wants to return to the past, where the company's business model was still credible."

If TK was anyone else with a mature, modern attitude towards business, I might agree with this. However, TK has styled himself to be a penny-ante Bond villain with his unhinged ranting & Kamala-style inappropriate laughter.

That TK wants to return to the past is beyond doubt (hello, stack ranking!). However, you don't need to mine the Industrial Age for a sound business model. The new regime of growth thru M&A for the sole purpose of sucking out what life remains isn't a business model -- it's a 1970s Hammer horror flick.

You can’t change culture by fiat. The world has changed, which may mean changing jobs or mgmt folks realizing that there are forces at play larger than their egos and antiquated values.

"RTO is really just a return to vintage pre-cloud Citrix."

Perhaps TK wants to return to the past, where the company's business model was still credible. By and large, post-cloud Citrix was where we began to have serious problems delivering solutions to our customer's needs and wants.

One could argue the cognitive dissonance described by the post title has been the prevailing backdrop at Citrix well before the PE takeover, well before Citrix decided to be a cloud-oriented company. Within the scope of the company's history, the decision to eat their own dogfood in terms of allowing employees to choose where/when they work, is a relatively recent blip on the radar. Thus, one could argue that leadership's d-mbassery around RTO is really just a return to vintage pre-cloud Citrix.

I use Citrix software every day for the past 3 years working remotely 90% of the time connecting to a virtual desktop. I don't usually have many problems and works great for day to day. I don't know why Citrix themselves do not want employees working remotely, I find myself far more productive remote and working longer hours (not so good) as without the commute somehow it feels OK to work a bit extra. On the days I do go in to the office I leave at the usual time.

Since when did leadership have consistency in their arguments ?

I don't work at Citrix, but I could leadership there handling that contradiction by saying Citrix believes in the quality of its remote work solutions for any work done by employees outside of the 40 hours they are required to be in the office.
