Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Severance -- 18 months of Insurance?

In another thread I saw someone mention about insurance.

Is it true that you get 18 months of Health Insurance if you get laid off? Or is it based on seniority?

( This is only USA based question. )

You may have confused it for a comment that says that you can get cobra for 18 months. Which is true legally you were supposed to be able to buy into your previous employers COBRA plan for 18 months. That’s the legal limit. What Dell is offering is two months of paid cobra.

2 months severance; 2 months Cobra, then you will need to pay if you want to continue converage.

Can confirm just 2 months of Cobra, after that period Cobra rates were $650 per month for an individual

18 months would be far too generous of Dell. You can purchase COBRA for an astronomical price by law.

2 months of Cobra if you accept it.
