Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Favoritism

We are being told we can't work past 40 hours. Those who are likely to go over gets sent home. In our store, we have one support colleague whose schedule drops down with 40 hours guaranteed while the rest of us gets 28 to 32 hrs. This colleague changes her hours from 9-5 to 8-6 every day. So now she is guaranteed 45 hours every week. How is this fair? It's been brought to our store managers, department manager, operations etc. yet no one does anything to correct the situation. Same rule should apply to everyone.

The same thing is happening at my store. Im 30+yr employee i went from 40hrs to 32hrs to 28hrs. There are a few pets who cry to hr and somehow get extended shifts all the time. I've decided to just take what I'm given. I just live simply and not spend my money stupidly(aka not spend money at Macys) on cr-p I don't need. I also have stopped covering shifts for people who call off. I am now looking for a part time job to fill hrs its time to accept that its not going to get any better.

Former Macys here and current NCR employee. Yeah we are in the same boat not allowed to go over 40 hours. A little birdy told me about budget constraints on the Macys side will affect hours and projects this year. As far as NCR our Management is no better.

HR can’t do anything. Full time is defined 28 hours and part time is 14 hours. Good luck.

This happens in my store too. My suggestion to you is to contact HR. And in my store, it is racially motivated because the Hispanic managers are favoring the Hispanic colleagues. There’s one new colleague and he hasn’t even been here a year and he gets every Sunday off and gets extra hours and he is slow and not even a good worker. Meanwhile rest of us, oh you have to work weekends. In the store, nobody really helps with things like that unless you contact HR and make a complaint and be sure to have have proof and witnesses or you can just make an anonymous report on compliance connections if you feel more comfortable doing it anonymously.

Happens everywhere. Either deal with it and do your job or leave. Again, it happens everywhere.

She must be the hardest working person in the store.

At my store, we have several sales associates who do not close and do not work on the weekends.
