Anyone else see this. 3 out of 8 people laid off in my region have been off for extended period to to physical/mental health reasons.

I know 2 people (co-worker and a manager) who were laid off during their medical leave. I got laid off as well (and my other coworker; the whole team basically got axed) in this round after taking off a lot of time off work due to covid (was in office for one day and the next bo-m). I can't help but be suspicious about why we were all let go.
They did it to people out on maternity/paternity leave too.
Legal?
