Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Any guesses on number of departures after AIP payout?

Many are just hanging in there for the payment and sayonara. Any guesses on number and which area will be hit most?

people a laying low and will make exit plan quietly

maybe enough will leave such that the next layoff will be smaller but then the business will be in trouble because all the knowledge walked

regardless, no long term prospect for this place

what´s sad is that so many talented engineers that were laid off were under paid and replaced with over paid newbies

the next generation of engineers were turned off by mgmt actions that they took off, leaving a void of knowledge and future technical leaders

the current mgmt is scrambling now to rebuild but too little too late

so more will take off because the future is bleak

"Less will leave than should. Few on this thread that are actual employees will leave. Operating behind an anonymous veil is comfortable. Skill sets are dated, attitude is jaded courage has faded. Reap the complacency you seed throughout your day. 4 hour work days on 4 day work weeks. I dare you to go to a start up sweat shop or better, attempt to land in one of the FAANGS where you will get schooled by people that work 60 hours a week and have ambition. Leave and make room for those that care. Do those that do care a favor."

oh, please so full of it.

Is that why this place keeps losing developers to other companies?
Anyone that work on this product for 3 or more years have no problems in getting another gig at another place, whether the same or cobbling up open source packages. Been there done that. The FAANG have deep pockets and popular products but talents are not as smart. The 60 hours spent is on politics, endless meetings, social re engineering processes, and constantly on their phones. Smart engineers know how to navigate around all that and get the same work done in half the time.

Very true. Lots of pressure and layoffs everywhere but it does not have to be that way.
If stakeholders really know what goes on day to day, they would demand mgmt be fired. Good management take care of their people through the rough times, build trust, and have a supportive culture. This place abandoned that. All the actions speak for themselves. And no, it won´t topple overnight. There´s lots of cash in the coffer for the grifters to milk first and the board is too d-mb to see the failed strategy, mgmt, and spiraling down pattern. Many that took pride in their work were replaced by those that only wants to drive stock price up, cash out, and exit, leaving a mess.

By the accounts of people who refer to trolls and the like for having some pride in their work, it speaks to what’s really toxic. Seems that TD should have gone under over a year ago? Layoffs happening everywhere. Competitors stock under massive pressure and failures by them to deliver. Let’s see what next week holds. TD has many shortcomings. Include the toxic as one of them.

Looks like HR trolls or TINO sympatizer have done their dirty work to lay off folks and now coming back to prop up the dying place.

Either way, stay or go, this place is toast. The more that leaves, mainly the smart ones, the ones remained will be exposed when nothing works and the place will accelerate its demise. If they stay, nothing will change. The place continues to be toxic and people who say they care and wish people leave speak volume to the incompetency that have rolled down hill. It´s not the people, it´s the management.

This place tried to skip paying the bonuses not just for RIF after the calendar or appraisal year but for retirees as well in the past. They were threaten with lawsuits before they paid up either full or prorated and changed the rules so much that all your effort means nothing if they choose so.
