Thread regarding Salesforce.com Inc. layoffs

Is Salesforce going to trim the Sales org in February?

Knowing that Salesforce closes the FY in January and most of the revenue comes during this last quarter, it doesn't make sense to fire sales reps now.
Do you think Salesforce is waiting until February to restructurate the Sales org?

Was told in an all hands today to expect severe sales layoffs early February. Severance will be 9 weeks + 1 additional week for each year you’ve been with the company

An even more nefarious way to lay off Salespeople is to put them on PIPs on Feb 1 so they are unable to receive much meaningful severance.

We know there will not be meaningful promotions until Q2 - it makes sense that Q1 will be the time to let go of sales reps while they potentially restart G4G under VERY strict promo requirements that not many reps will qualify for.

Anyone under 50% attainment on the year should be looking for new roles right now, in my humble opinion.

My other prediction is that Salesforce will turn to hyper-managed performance metrics. Monthly and quarterly numbers for everyone with little grace for missing them.

Want one more conspiracy? I think they have productivity tracking softeware on company computers and this "our workers are not productive" talktrack is their way of saying "we are noticing some employees are not infront of their computers during work hours"

Is that a rhetorical question? If it's not, you have not been paying attention.

Yes, Sales will be hit after Q4.

The problem with the sales organization is new AEs get the cr-p accounts until they can prove themselves which isn't easy. It makes sense that people who have been there longer are doing better in sales and the new people are not. It's not because the new people aren't working hard and it some cases harder than the AEs that have been there awhile who sit back collecting on overages and added licenses. That is how the successful people on my team were surviving. There wasn't a lot of new business wins or added cloud deals happening. I am so glad I left Salesforce it is a grind and full of micromanagers who are arrogant and not talented.

Yes, the financial year finishes end of Jan.

They could have waited early Feb to announce layoffs, but I think this is very intentional.

It's to kick the sales people in the final month of the fiscal year, and keep the rest of the people on their toes.

The only two types of people Benioff spoke about in the all hands this week were Account Executives and new joiners.

Sales' salary is high. Hit Opex hard so big yes. With demand and competitors in play, it will be a blood bath. Package might be smaller.

Based on the all hands they are chopping sales heads in February.

It may be the case. Apart from that expect more layoffs in US/Europe where salaries are much higher than in India. It’s reality of globalisation…
