Every week another solid performer walks out due to the uncertainty and constant cuts. Anybody who has options is heading for the door. The brain drain is real, and I don't think leadership even sees it. Or they see it and don't care, instead they're celebrating the attrition without severance.

Recently left on my own accord for a job making slightly less money & my mental health hasn’t been this good in a decade plus. Leaving the septic tank that is Verizon has improved every facet of my life as there’s no longer the dread and stress of going to work for a company that doesn’t care anymore.
I'm number 10! I turned it red!
Oh yes they do, the swamp is not drained. Also, stock needs to be at 75. RIF more
I know people that are leaving without anything lined up (because they either have a spouse that earns a good living or have significant savings). That's how bad it has become. I've never seen morale this low before ever and I have been with the company for many years.
@ay ...and yet the quarterly earnings continue to speak for themselves. You have a decision to make.
Management does not care. It improves profit
@OP N&T has always been a very demanding job. It used to offer job security and opportunities for advancement in return but that is no longer the case. Our genius management have convinced themselves that they no longer need competent, and experienced people.
As a result, it makes sense for almost everyone to leave telecom and land opportunities elsewhere. All my coworkers who left telecom in the last decade have done much better for themselves than the ones who stayed.
It’s the same story at AT&T and T-Mobile.
The “Level Up” program was a joke! Dangled the carrot in front of everyone and never executed on any of it! Was a total sham and if you still believe VZ is rolling it out at some future date…well…keep drinking the cool aid! No different than “we’re getting headcount”. It’s not happening! The new VZ strategy is simply lose personnel, promise headcount that never comes, and keep consolidating groups/teams into each other. Oh, and then rename the old teams and new teams! Chaos!
I’ve started actively applying and I’m checked out. The constant re-orgs, lack of direction, and being forced to take on the work of impacted colleagues. I just see more work, less growth here, and stress of the next one. If leadership wanted to ki-l the vibes, congrats y’all successfully did it. Hope I save you some severance cost for the next round.
I have two engineers, both three years out of college that are both outstanding. In our 1:1s, they have both said if Level Up or a clear career progression path is not available by the end of the year they leaving. I would hate to lose them but couldn't blame them one bit if they left. Verizon needs a staffing strategy aside from cutting people.
One of the biggest obstacle in Verizon is favouritism. When the time comes to reduce workforce, every single leader in Verizon will retain people who su-k up to them irrespective of their competence. Unless all the leaders are changed from top to bottom, the brain drain will continue. No solid performer can survive this environment.
