Let me get this straight. A service that did not attract enough attention and desired use is supposed to now somehow do the opposite and become viable while being worked on by a significantly smaller number of employees. Because that's going to work how, exactly?

An unprofitable business doesn’t mean a bad business model. What’s happened with Devices and Alexa is mismanagement. The core model for devices and their monetization is viable, but the problem has been the reinvestment to drive additional innovation hasn’t been returning incremental profitability. The core model shouldn’t be thrown out, but it’s need better management that focuses on doing more of the things that make money and less of things that don’t.
Maybe because of Fed money pouring in so that they can continue their spying campaign?
