Thread regarding Salesforce.com Inc. layoffs

Fate loves irony

Exactly one year ago, talking to a Salesforce VP who was looking to fill a manager position, he mentioned me that he'd prefer to fill it with someone external rather than promote internally because, according to him, the external person would "work harder".
It took him more than 6 months to fill the position.
The real reason was that he was looking for a woman and did not receive any external female candidates, but he preferred to leave the position vacant for 6 months instead of promoting a man.

Very recently Mr. Benioff stated that new employees are facing lower productivity and Salesforce hired too many people which caused this economic downturn.

Now he's out.

Don't blame the VP here. Higher ups (esp from HR) is pushing for more DEI hires. VPs, most of them useless anyway, just follow these orders.

The fact is that Salesforce for years has openly promoted discrimination through "diversity hires" instead of picking the best candidates and has promoted through things like gender quotas. And now, surprise surprise, it has eroded the ability of the organisation by not promoting based on merit. Those that actually contribute by creating are not promoted, it is the one in the team below that can help managers fulfil their x% diversity quota.
