Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Being laid off after receiving the bonus

Some think that the bonus implies some kind of job security. I thought so too, however, others tell me that it would not be unusual to receive a bonus and then be laid off.
I would like to hear your opinion.

Who cares. It’s sad reading these kind of posts. People depending on bonuses but don’t know if they are coming and if they are, will they make it before or after bonus day. Who cares.

The only people that are getting bonuses for sure are the c-suite cons and their minions. Period! If you are not them, not worth putting your head thru all the what ifs.

Use these POS’s like they’ve used you. Moonlight, use expenses, take advantage of free time. That’s how you get your bonus. Think of yourself first :-) and if one happens to come, icing on cake.

You are just a number. You could be cut at any time. There is no loyalty either way.

NOV has no problem laying off people getting a bonus. In fact, if someone does get a good bonus and a co-worker doesn't qualify for one then the person getting the bonus is more likely to get laid off. NOV will always look at money spent as in the past, therefore irrelevant and only look forward. They don't understand opportunity cost nor apply it with any sense.

The HR Dudd at the tower will tell you if there will be layoffs, odds of you making it to bonus day is slim to none. The Dudd who is probably one of the most incompetent uneducated VPs ever employed by this company will also attest that if there are layoffs odds are the bonus will be cr---y. The Dudd, will say all this, when he is done complaining about millennials and having lunch with his Canadian bff ;-0

As per the previous thread - that is No Other Vendors stereotypical style - they lay you off with the bonus all wrapped up in a “bonus ball”
NOVs management are THE worst
