I am a part-timer here and I don't know how it came to be that I am expected to work as if I were a full-timer. Anyone else with such experience? I am literally drained and planning to leave Macy's.

I agree with the person who says to work your generated schedule and nothing more. If you draw the line the management will eventually back off...Just say no! Pretty soon though you will see that you are getting little to no hours as the next few months the sales plans will be much lower and there will be fewer hours budgeted to cover the store.
If you are on the clock FT or PT you are expected to pull your own weight. Its a disgrace to even hear from someone who was just recently hired complain when they make the same pay rate as someone who has worked for the company for many years. If you were making 9 dollars an hour complain all you want . We are ALL supposed to learn and complete multiple tasks. I did that way before ISM everyone is stretched thin. Gone are the days of just standing at the register
Gee wh-z, all you have to do is say no when you are asked to work additional hours. Work your generated schedule, and nothing else.
How it came to be? The real answer is Obamacare. It made it so people who worked over 29 hrs a week automatically got the much more expensive health insurance premiums, so suddenly all low paying jobs became part-time.
If you’re unhappy with the amount of hours that you’re given, talk to your CXM. As far was “working harder” than FT, I don’t believe in that. Everyone should work just as hard and be held to the same standard when they are on the clock. Especially since now you are essentially paid the same hourly rate. If everyone were to work equally, stores would be in much better shape. We can’t continue to rely on a handful of people in the store to carry the immense load that the company places on them. If FT are taking advantage of PT than that’s another story, but if not, my advice is to help out where you’re needed and put in the effort if your leaders are kind to you.
I don't want to come across as "crass" and "insulting," but Management preys upon the naivety of the feeble-minded...
