What are qualifications to become Director

The tongue-in-cheek answers are not very far. Yes, being indian and a woman gives you a leading edge, but the most important thing is to butt-kiss the right people, but this applies to most positions when applying internally.
15 years in tech. Indian here. could not become director.
To become director, you have to follow these
- Be comfortable sidestepping ethical conduct (hiring for convenience, lying on record)
- Su-k it up to your MDs/C levels. more the merrier.
You will not just stop at Director. you can even become a C level in no time. Many living examples in tech.
Good luck.
As a NYC C15, decades, generate far more then you cost and manage a team or product that does so year-on-year. That, and (sorry AND true) be Indian....
Indian 🇮🇳
Oh you mean about Citi's favourite desographic ??
Citi's envied Competitors do NOT have as many in headcount/employees of Citi's favourite desographic.
nothing in regards to skillset - just be a sheep, follow the leader, blow smoke up all the higher ups rears... it is sad
Just like most of the other comments and advice on this thread, try to Fake It Till You Make It, just like Theranos' Elizabeth Holmes.
You don't need to have any skills, have any job experience or know anything. It's all political and favouritism. You need to align yourself with and Svck the right AS$ES.
In a Dysfunctional Incompetent Freak Show Circus like $hittibank, you'll get away with it.
Hello, HR !
Unpopular opinion perhaps, but based on my experience and observations, it’s strictly political. Forget skills, just make sure you butter up the higher ups every day and “act” like you know your stuff. Clearly in this place expertise and competency do not matter. It’s all about favoritism
Strong track record, strategic thinking, and an advanced degree in knowing whose email chain to put yourself on. But mostly... knowing when to speak, when to stay quiet, and when to volunteer for the high-visibility project you don't do any meaningful work on. Throw in some executive presence, a LinkedIn that uses the words "transformational" and "AI" at least once, and you're basically there.
Experience in the field, business school/education.
