PayPal's Rank - WSJ - The 2026 Best Companies for the Future

The Wall Street Journal evaluates how leading US corps stack up in 6 areas: AI readiness, innovation, talent readiness, financial fitness, resilience and agility.

PayPal ranks #61 overall with an Overall Score of 61.2, placing it 10th out of 41 Financial Services companies. Its best factors are Innovation Rank #20, AI #60, Resilience #125, and Agility #162. This is a respectable profile for a payments and digital-wallet company.

The weaker side is Financial Fitness Rank #232 and Talent Readiness #232, which make the profile less clean than Visa, Mastercard, or Charles Schwab. The strategic implication is that PayPal still screens as innovative and future-relevant, but not as financially or organizationally dominant as the top platform companies. The table supports a turnaround or repositioning thesis more than a pristine compounder thesis.

Just look at the stock price. We’re not at all time lows because Enrique is a genius. His old company started shooting through the roof as soon as he exited. I keep getting sc--wed with the price drops while the C suite just doubles their share packages.
