Exxon Mobil's Rank - WSJ - The 2026 Best Companies for the Future

Exxon Mobil ranks #235 overall with an Overall Score of 50.2, modestly above the Energy industry average of 47.2. Its best pillar is Innovation Rank #72, followed by Financial Fitness at #164. That matters because in Energy, innovation and financial strength are the only ways to escape a commodity-cycle profile.

The weak points are Talent Readiness #384 and Agility #379, both of which suggest legacy-sector operating drag. AI is also only #246, and Resilience is #270. The table reads Exxon as one of the better energy names, but still not a future-readiness leader. Strategically, it is financially relevant and technologically capable within its sector, but the ranking suggests old-economy scale is not enough in a world being scored on AI, speed, and adaptability.
