Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

Good managers

Maybe my experience in this company would have been completely different if I had at least a slightly better manager. However, my manager is an incompetent person who makes me want to leave. Are there any good managers here at all?

When the company splits everyone will be split among the two companies. Thus the worthless Mangers will still be around. Of course a lot of jobs will be cut and moved to off shore. At one time NCR was a great company with great workers/friends. It was like one big happy family, but now it is worthless and unbearable.

Don't expect much of an improvement for either of the companies unless they come to their senses and get rid of the hacks masquerading as managers COMPANY WIDE.

When this becomes 2 separate companies I really hope the Management with the new company is better. Unless there are some CEs let go prior to that which is what I hope at this point. My Manager thought that having retail CEs running network calls was a good idea. The going forward plan from
What I’ve heard is that one company will have ATM Finance doing network calls while the other will be retail and hospitality. Way above my pay grade and not my decision as to the going forward plan.

My current TM is not very good and just lacks the communication and leadership necessary for the position. The TM that hired me was better and more of a people person which you need to be these days. Some Managers are decent but unfortunately I don’t have that at the current time. Just seems like a puppet that follows the company line and doesn’t have the human element.

I know one manager who was so bad that 6 of the 7 engineers working for him left within his first 3 months. He was promoted. I know other managers who are world class individuals who are a pleasure to work for.

NCR Means - No College Required
From what I've seen, you can progress up to Director without a proper university degree or management training except those pathetic courses on NCRU. Just whing it, talk the talk, stab people in the back and elevate your profile to self proclaimed hero. This is a real insult to young college grads that spent the time and got the sheepskin. All of you should be on the next departure list because truthfully we can do better.

Every good manger I’ve had either was fired or moved on before getting fired.

All the good ones read the writing on the wall and left years ago.
