I know I said this before but I think it bears repeating. Being happy about Bed Bath & Beyond failing and cheering it on is wrong on so many levels. I can understand that you want to "stick it" to the leadership by supporting the company's downfall, but all you are doing is cheering on your own demise and that of your coworkers. Thousands of people will lose their jobs once the company fails. Many of them are the sole breadwinners in their families. How is that a good outcome in any shape or form?

I guess you now have your answer and yeah, I agree that it's obviously been up to the individual all along to heed or ignore the signs of impending disaster. But I also think it may be unfair to berate those who cheer that they finally HAVE an answer. And you can pretty much judge others think the same way with the OP down votes.
Yes but employees in limbo or opting to stay that way. Whoever has not been convinced they have to get out by now should not complain about what BBB is doing. Limbo won't last much longer, the company will fold within the year.
I can counter this by saying putting your employees in limbo like BBBY is doing is not right. Why should they expect people to put up with that?
That non performing stores cr-p is a red herring. How many do they have that actually perform? It's a spin by the company. Too many very large stores are gone and their customers, or potential customers, with them. I still think it is to get out from under bad leases.
Did they plug the nobody shopping at the stores ho-e? How about BBB stores becoming completely irrelevant? Oh I know they plugged the millions in debt ho-e they have, paid their suppliers and stores are now busting at the seams with inventory! There is no bucket that will help here besides bankruptcy and going out of business. Believing otherwise will only leave you holding that useless bucket with no job.
Trimming out non-performing stores is not BBB going under. That's what businesses need to do when prior management self sabotage a company. Now top executives have plugged the holes and are now removing the water making room for passengers. Pick up a bucket or find another boat.
Assume that many on here were part of the termination massacre of a couple years ago when nearly ALL full time store help as well as nearly ALL assistant managers were terminated over the course of a few days. Many in corporate were also shown the door. As you said "Many of them are (were) the sole breadwinners in their families", so it works in both directions now.
Change occurs independently of us. Our job is to prepare for it. Time to face the reality.
If you sit in a rattan chair and convince yourself nothing will even change you will someday find yourself on the floor when the chair collapses.
I don't think it is a good thing to root for the failure of BBB. It will impact many lives and families in a very bad way. But with all this time we have watched knowing it was going to end up this way, the ownice is on individuals for not seeking employment elsewhere. For those that have not have had experience elsewhere or have been with BBB for many, many years finding someplace else may be difficult because of the archaic skillset used here. We will find out this week how quickly they may disappear with the earnings report expected on 1/5.
Totally agree that this is a no win situation. I just hope that people realized what was happening and didn't stick around to see the titanic sink. Or at least started to work on their life raft.
