Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Shame

It’s the same story everywhere, but it feels especially absurd at our
company. VPs and above fly business class, enjoy generous budgets they
seem to circulate among themselves, and receive inflated bonuses for
minimal impact. Many of them likely couldn’t find another role in this
industry paying even half as much.

Shame on the board for tolerating an ineffective CEO. Shame on the CEO for
building an ineffective C-suite. And shame on us for continuing to work
here.

Corporate programs like Thriveand internal surveys are purely for show. They hold zero weight when it comes to actual job security. If a company needs to hit its financial numbers or protect its profit margins to satisfy Wall Street, leadership will execute layoffs regardless of employee sentiment. They will simply frame the cuts under standard corporate buzzwords like 'strategic realignment,AI restructuring,' or 'optimizing resources.'
Spending time filling out these surveys changes nothing on the balance sheet. While directors are mandated to push for participation to hit their own corporate compliance targets, ignoring them allows you to focus strictly on your core deliverables rather than participating in corporate theater.Expect layoff don't be surprised if they're sooner then expected.

@ag its just for show. if we can't make up the numbers, we will layoff more people to show we are on the right track or easy blame or AI or realignment or restructuring or i need to keep more money in the pocket.....don't have to waste to to fill in the thrive or any survey....its just for the show. nothing personal. so you dont have to do that.....its also for show. i stop doing all the survey and thrive 3 years ago.....its nothing. of course your director will always encourage you to do that, just ignore them.

Very demoralized even i work in NPI right now, all the SME are most gone, all their expertise are gone, all their data are gone (inside their head and laptop), i have to lie to customers why we don't have that data anymore. Well, its time to look for other jobs. sigh

In 10+ years, I don’t think morale has ever been worse.

Shame indeed. However, investors will look at the share price and see success. In reality there has been no real growth during the GK tenure but he remains ineffectual in his role and continues to line his own pocket. It might not yet be visible but NetApp is in real danger of failing due lack of development and no longer having a competitive advantage. Takeover in the next few years seems the most likely outcome.
