I’m an employee who’s been through a few rounds now, and the strange part is how routine it’s started to feel. Once one layoff ends, people don’t really relax, they just start wondering when the next announcement’s coming. Most of us just keep working, keep quiet, and try not to draw attention. Sad.

As a 388 C15 I sometimes just make clicky noises on my keyboard to appear busy. They still think I'm busy and pay me more than last year. I'm slowly going crazy and other people get cut. Nice work Jane!
@b3 : Agreed, it's called self-awareness, but instead of making changes, people keep ranting.
Citi has already announced headcount reductions. It's not anyone's personal company, and like any corporate organization, it has to put shareholders first. That's how business works and blaming the CEO everytime won't help either.
Citi, just like every other giant global bank have layoffs 2 or 3 times a year every year - this is nothing new. During off cycles they are small targeted layoffs or what some people like to call "quiet" layoffs. These are the rif-raff, trouble makers or 'other'
that get laid off 2 or 3 times a year. If you do not understand this then you must be new to the private sector and the corporate world, or, have no experience in either and just here to stir the pot. However, and, back to your comments; why bother complaining or worrying about something you have no control, influence or domain over. There's nothing you can do about it - if you're worried about it and think you're going to laid off (with a fairly generous sev package) then head to greener pastures. Stop complaining about it and do something you DO have control over which is who you work for.
