I used to work for #42 Brass Mill Center that was confirmed for inventory and then after reconciliation, the news was announced that they were closing so it’s hard to say which stores are closing until officially announced. That store was owned as well and had RGIS (third party company) so the inventory on top of that.

I don't consider The Sun a reputable news source as it is.Maybe if reputable mainstream outlets report closures, then I'll believe it.

It’s only confirmed if announced. ALL stores are confirmed doing inventory at this point, that’s meaningless. Being the last anchor store in a mall is really bad news, though.

Waiting until the actual media news release. Pretty much speculation until then. One of the stores listed as a potential closing has been rumored to close for about 3-4 years now. I spoke to a store AST person last week and confirmed they will be doing Inventory. Plus, Macys owns the building so 2 pluses for them staying open, but you never know this is Macys. Hamilton Mall, Macys is the only anchor left and they had the large Fulfillment expansion so have to see if they renew the lease. Some other stores I doubt it, as they also expanded Fulfillment and sunk a lot of money into those sites with flooring and moves.

It mentioned Florida twice. lmao

"The other 16 states with Macy's store closures are New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Hawaii, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana."

"33 Macy's stores are expected to close this December" -- posted on December 31st.

They link to a USA Today article posted in January 2022.

Would like to read more current information, please and thank you eyeroll.

Same sh*t, different article. What a hack job of journalism.

Same old retread story…. They do the math based on the 125 stores of 3 years ago, then run as a new headline. There’s no “news” here. Of course, there will be closures, but that’s not “news” until they say what and where.

Hmmm makes me wonder what locations. I think I have a good idea based on the states.

There's a good overview of which stores were cash flow positive in 2021 and 2022. If they were a money loser it's sayonara. Ultimately it's to preserve what other jobs are left. If Macy's follows all the other mall department stores into bankruptcy, there's going to be a lot more job loss. Sadly, these locations are worth more as empty real estate than operating stores.
