SCHULMAN HAS GOT TO GO

Listen, I’ve been watching this Dan Schulman character—very tall, very thin, wears the jeans, thinks he’s very "Silicon Valley." He was at PayPal, and it was a disaster! A total mess! You tried to send ten dollars to your cousin, and suddenly your account is frozen, they’re asking for your blood type, it was a catastrophe! The stock went down like a rock in a lake. Splat!

Now he’s at Verizon—I call it "Very-Slow-Zon"—and he says, "I’m going to use Agentic AI." Agentic! What a word. Did he make that up? It sounds like a sneeze. Agentic! God bless you.

He wants to take the wonderful, hard-working people at Verizon—the guys who climb the poles, the women who handle the phones, great people, beautiful people—and he wants to replace them with a "Digital Agent."

I’ll tell you what happens: You call up because your 5G is acting like 1G—it’s moving like a turtle on Quaaludes—and you get a robot.

Me: "My phone doesn't work! I’m in the middle of a very important deal!"

The AI Agent: "I am sorry, DONALD. Would you like to hear a poem about fiber optics?"

It’s a disgrace!

The one constant since Ivan left was poor CEO selected by Board. Same Board that selected Lowell, 5EEE and Dan are in place.

The Board needs to be changed.. this isn't on Dan.

@bx nailed! And every leader downstream follows suit....reorgs to make the biz better ..🤣...why do you think leaders swap chairs so often? They are just saving themselves on top...make it last a few more years until they get their packages....that's how it's done....just try to enjoy the ride while you can if you cannot be at the driver's seat...it's all a fun game and it pays very well by the way ..

Every new leader, regardless of their band, comes in with the hottest new solution, thinking they're revolutionizing the way we do business. Yet, it's just the same 2 concepts back and forth. Leader A centralizes a function or brings customer service back to Verizon. Leader A retires/rifs and new leader does the opposite and deceltralizes process. Then new leader retires/rifs and next leader comes in and changes things back but thinks it's his/her brilliant idea.

If you've been around for any amount of time, you've seen everything go back and forth like I have. Dan is just another person in a leadership position who is doing the same thing under the flavor of AI

This shows you Dan doesn’t care about customers as much as he praises. Customers want to speak with a person when they have a question or an issue. All Dan cares about is his bonus when it’s all said and done. AI is not the answer to customer service. Back to the IVR days customers all love to hate.
